FOCUS
How are candidates assessed during the FCE and CAE speaking tests? This seminar is designed to give you real in-depth understanding of how students are evaluated during the speaking test, using the Cambridge speaking test criteria. We’ll watch and assess a wide range of performances, from weak to strong: we’ll discuss the evaluations and suggest classroom activities for improving the communication skills tested, so that your students really do their best on the day.
For teachers interested in going “behind the scenes”, we will be running through the what and why of Cambridge ESOL’s routine research on speaking tests, together with some information about current special projects.
SPEAKER
The seminar will be produced and given by Sue Gilbert, appointed by the University Cambridge Examinations as Professioanl Support Leader for the Speaking Tests with responsibility for Switzerland.
BOOK TABLE
There will be a book exhibition showing a selection of books on speaking test methodology as well as teaching FCE/CAE speaking in the classroom.
